ABOUT TOURS
Tatamailau, also called Mt Ramelau, is in the district of Ainaro and Timor Leste’s highest mountain at 2,986 metres. It’s one of the most popular destinations, a Timor must do. During these 2 days, 1 night tour you’ll get the opportunity to walk up to the summit for some top views – you may even see Atauro Island. You’ll also explore the town of Aileu and Maubisse to experience Timor-Leste’s sacred houses, marketplaces and waterfalls.
MT RAMELAU TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1. Dili-Aileu-Maubisse-Hatobuilico (at the base of Mt. Ramelau)
- 8:30am: Pick up from where you stay
- Drive into the mountains and visit WWII Memorial up in Dare hill.
- Continue drive along the coffee plantation on to Aileu town.
- Visit Esperansa sewing group, resistance village of Aissirimou, 1942 massacred and Projecto Montanha or Dili Vaninlli for lunch.
- Head onto Maubisse to visit the town, market place and quick stop at Pousada de Maubisse before proceed to Likitei traditional village
- Drive to Hatu Builico town at the base of Mt Ramelau
- Spend the night at Ovalido Garden
Day 2. Hatobuilico-Mt. Ramelau-Dili
- Rise early (03:00AM) to climb to the summit of Mt Ramelau for sunrise
(Approx. 3 hours up and 1.5 hours back dep. on pace & conditions)
- Enjoy a late breakfast before continuing heading back to Dili via Suku Liurai village onto Fatubossa visit the sacred house along the way
- Lunch at the Projecto Montanha and return to Dili via Comoro River Road (NA)
